I get asked a lot about some of the locations I shoot. So I thought it was time to to make a post about it. I try to avoid downtown at as much as possible especially for wedding days. Traffic, festivals, construction, and worst of all parking are all factors you have to think about but it is beautiful when you can take advantage of it. Sometimes time doesn’t allow us travel far distances to get the beautiful landscape I so desire so here are some nice quick locations. Here are my top 3 favorite spots in Milwaukee for 2014 that I absolutely love.
3. The Riverwalk – Downtown
I’m a huge fan of the high rises and gorgeous view of the city. The fact that you can venture off the trail and dive right into the city makes it super convenient. Plus the view is a great bonus.
2. The Villa Terrace Art Museum- East Side Milwaukee
I absolutely love this place. I’ve been here a few times now and every time I come here I always find something new. I love all the sizes of the room and it offers a lot of natural light which is always nice. The only downside is that sometimes there are artwork the limits the use of the room. But not to worry because you have the beautiful garden which is located just a few (a lot!) of steps down. It’s filled with gorgeous flowers and landscaping. Plus the staff is really helpful. It is possible to have pictures taken here without having your wedding here…though very difficult and maybe booked but still great for engagements. A permit is required if so.
1. Boerner Botanical Gardens – Hales Corner
A little out of the way from Milwaukee and located in Hales Corner (just southwest of MKE) but this is my to go place for beautiful greens and gorgeous trees without needing to drive 30 minutes outside of Milwaukee. It’s a photographers dream because of all the endless possibilities with flowers, mature trees, a pond and than more. I honestly can spend the whole day here and it even looks better during the fall. Not only is it great for engagement and weddings but other portrait sessions as well. A permit is required.
